Ammonium Propionate is a white crystal. Melting point 45 ℃. Soluble in water, ethanol and acetic acid. It has strong hygroscopicity and is easy to deliquesce in humid air.

Ammonium Propionate is used as antiseptic and mildew inhibitor. Free propionic acid is produced under the premise of acidity, which has antibacterial property.
