Bifidobacterium Bifidum

Bifidobacterium bifidum (B.bifidum), is part of the Bifidobacterium family. This bacteria is a Gram-positive bacteria that is non-motile, anaerobic, and non-spore forming. It is rod shaped and can be found living in clusters, pairs, or even independently. B.bifidum is found in the colon, lower small intestine, breast milk, and often in the vagina. The optimized growth temperature for B.bifidum is 36～38℃. Its metabolic mechanism allows heteromorphosis to ferment glucose, galactose, fructose etc. to produce Lactic Acid, Acetic Acid, as well as Enzymes, Vitamins etc. 

B.bifidum is the most popular Bifidobacterium probiotic bacteria, being used for a long time. Although it can be found in both infants and adults, the Bifidobacterium specie is predominant in the infants’ gastro-intestinal tract, being considered a growth factor. Recent research shows that people with big longevity have a higher Bifidobacterium ratio.
