The first outbreak of bird flu in chicken farms in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan
According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) report on November 29, a chicken farm in Date City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan detected "H5" bird flu virus in dead chickens. This is the first confirmed case of bird flu on a chicken farm in Fukushima Prefecture, where about 17,000 chickens are being processed.
On the morning of the 28th, a chicken farm in Date City received news that the number of dead poultry was increasing, and a simple test showed a positive reaction to bird flu.
Through further genetic testing, the
"H5" bird flu virus was detected. The Fukushima prefectural government began processing about 17,000 chickens raised on the chicken farm.
This is the first confirmed occurrence of bird flu in a chicken farm in Fukushima Prefecture, and it is also the third case of bird flu discovered in chicken farms in Northeast Japan since this autumn, following Aomori and Miyagi prefectures.
