 Summary of International Avian Influenza Epidemic in Week 28 of 2022

1. 9 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds and 1 poultry in Canada 

On July 21, Canada reported that 9 wild birds and 1 poultry H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza had occurred in Prince Edward Island and other 4 places, 15 wild birds were infected and died, and 15,000 poultry were culled. 

2. Two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds occurred in Norway 

On July 21, Norway reported two outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds in two places including Viken County, and two wild birds died of infection. 

3. 2 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry and 12 wild birds in Germany 

On July 21 and 22, Germany notified that 2 poultry and 12 wild bird H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks occurred in 5 places including Schleswig-Herstein, 295 poultry were infected, and 5890 were attacked. 44 wild birds were infected and died. 

4. An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry occurred in South Africa 

On July 21, South Africa reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry in Gordon Province. 181 poultry died and 76,000 were culled. 

5. Three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry occurred in the United States 

On July 21, the United States reported three outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry in Utah and other two places. 789 poultry died and 15,000 were culled. 

6. Nine outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry occurred in Russia 

On July 22, Russia notified Kaluga and other 2 places of 9 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry. 150 poultry were infected, 149 died and 96 were culled. 

7. An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry occurred in Poland 

On July 22, Poland notified the Greater Poland Province of a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak of H5N1 subtype in poultry, and 639 poultry were infected and culled. 

8. 21 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds occurred in the UK 

On July 22, the United Kingdom notified England of 21 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of the H5N1 subtype in wild birds, and 36 wild birds were infected and died. 

9. 16 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds and 1 poultry in France 

On July 22, France reported 16 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds and 1 poultry in 6 places including Nord province. 90 wild birds were infected and died, 5 poultry were infected, 1 died, and 5 culling. 

10. Four outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds occurred in Finland 

On July 27, Finland reported 4 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds in 2 places including Oran Province, and 5 wild birds died of infection. 

11. An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in wild birds occurred in Belgium 

On July 27, Belgium notified the Flemish region of a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak of H5N1 subtype in wild birds, and one wild bird died of infection. 

12. 31 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry occurred in the Philippines 

On July 27, the Philippines reported 31 outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza of H5N1 subtype in poultry in 5 places including the Central Luzon Region. 68,000 poultry were infected, 67,000 died, and 254,000 were culled.
